Travel Guide: How to go to Calaguas

October 28, 2015

Pack enough food, water, clothing, tent and a load of sunblock. Camp in Calaguas!

Calaguas is also known as Mahabang Buhangin beach.

How to get there:
Travel Time: 9-10 hrs
Fare: Php480 – (bus from Pasay to Talobatib; 8 hrs.)
Php50 – (tricycle from Talobatib to Paracale; 30 mins.)

Note: Tricycle fee depends on how many persons you are in a group to avail discount. Since we're 10 in the group, we haggled to get the deal for 50 pesos each.
From Pasay City - Book a trip to Talobatib at BLTB Bus Co. located along EDSA (beside Winston Hotel) in Pasay, near MRT-EDSA station. I suggest you to book a week before your desired date, because trips are fully-booked every weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday).

The landmark in Talobatib where you will get off  to ride another bus or tricycle to Paracale.
Note: Waiting for a bus will take you for hours. I you don't have the patience to wait, just ride a tricycle to Paracale Port. Bus fare is much cheaper.

Upon reaching Paracale port, ride a boat for almost an hour and a half to Calaguas Island. In out trip, everything was arranged by our tour guide so we just waited for him in Paracale. All of us (10 persons) are in a single boat and our baggage were in the other boat to prevent overloading, no additional fee.

Note: There’s also another way to Calaguas via Vinzons. We have chosen to go via Paracale because my friend’s mom has a house in the town where we could stay for a while. Also, I would like to warn you about the strong currents in the ocean in your fluvial journey to Calaguas since it is facing the Pacific Ocean. You will definitely get wet as well as your baggage. Nevertheless, we enjoyed the rollercoaster-like ride!

Calaguas has the clearest beach that I've seen so far!

Travel tip: Book for a night trip to save you from traffic jam. We opt for 8:30pm trip and our bus left Pasay at 9pm. The traffic was light throughout the night and we reached Talobatib by 5am. We were supposed to meet Kuya Nelson at 10am so there’s much time for us to relax and have a breakfast at our friend’s rest house (my friend’s mom) in Paracale.

    1. Hello Alphee!
Forgive my super late reply :( Here's my number of Kuya Nelson 0909-525-982, but it's so 2014! I think he already changed his number.
Nonetheless, I guess you have his new digits by now. Just hoping that this post helped a bit about your trip to Calaguas. Take care! :)
