Caramoan Peninsula: Island Hopping Day 2
November 21, 2013ISLAND HOPPING DAY 2
A whole day of ultimate Caramoan island hopping!
Call time with our tour guide - Kuya Otep, was 7am. We woke up as early as 5:30 am to prepare and have breakfast. Surprisingly, Kuya Otep was already in the lobby checking on us, he’s more than punctual! J
The sun was sunny as early as 6:00
am. Kuya Otep had 5 islets in mind to take us.
COTIVAS ISLAND
This is my second-favorite island with a small hill of fine sand. It’s wide and has Nipa cottages to shield you from the sun for a while.
BUGTONG BEACH
The tide was getting low when we
arrive. The sand bar appeared and it’s more dazzling! However, we just stayed
for a couple of minutes because our boat might get stuck in the sand since its
low tide.

Our tour guide for the three-day trip - Kuya Otep, savoring his moment! |
Locals sell large clams and shells, fresh from the underwater for 100 pesos each. Also, others sell thirst-quenching Coconuts for 20 pesos each.
MANLAWI SAND BAR BEACH
This is the widest sandbar in Caramoan. The sand is so moist that your feet will sink with every step; it’s like a sea with no water. Holes were also visible where some little fish and crab hide.
There are floating cottages for
rent – Php300, too bad our tour guide wasn’t able to inform us ahead of the
trip. Since we had no money, we just had lunch in the boat. Given that the tide
was low, the boat’s fan got stuck with sea weeds and needs to be fixed. We
endured sun bathing for almost an hour while wandering in the vast sandbar and
waited until the water rises. So yes, this is where my skin got
burnt...
SABITANG LAYA ISLAND
Have you watched ABS-CBN’s afternoon drama series, “Paraiso”? This is where the characters get drifted and isolated for a month. We also saw a couple beside their tent in the other side of the beach, I guess camping is allowed, just be reminded that there’s no electricity and drinking water here.

Try snorkeling and these brains (corals) are on sight. |
Since everybody - except for me,
get exhausted during the whole day of island hopping. We just decided to stay
in here to plunge in the swimming pool, instead of going to the last islet ( L ).
Caramoan Gardens is affiliated
with Caramoan Discoveries, so we are free to use its swimming pool (included in
the package). It is much of an attractive resort – wider, has cabins, swimming
pool, entertainment area, function area and a restaurant.
Unfortunately, our mobile phones
get drained during island hopping, so we got no photos of this place and
selfies.( L )
